Mission

The Summers Family Foundation Scholarship Program mission is to provide military veterans with financial aide     to support their educational endeavors, leading to success in higher education.

Scholarship Criteria

The Summers Family Foundation Endowed Merit Scholarship for Veterans provides scholarships to veterans seeking an undergraduate degree. The Foundation supports our nation’s veteran service members by removing financial barriers so a student veteran may pursue a degree program of choice. The scholarships cover direct study-related expenses such as tuition and fees.

To be eligible, veterans must have served in Afghanistan or Iraq in 2001 or later and must demonstrate US Citizenship, financial need, attend school full time with the intent to pursue an undergraduate bachelor's degree.

The candidate with be selected from the sophomore, junior or senior class and must maintain a 3.0 grade-point average. 

This merit based scholarship is awarded to:

i)  A candidate with at least 90 days of aggregate military service or a candidate who was discharged with a military    service-connected disability. The candidate must have received an honorable discharge.

In the event there are no students who fit the above criteria, secondary preference for the endowed fund will be used to proved a merit base scholarship to:

ii)  A candidate who is the son or daughter of an individual on active military duty.

In the event there are no students who fit the above criteria, a third preference for the endowed fund will be used to proved a merit base scholarship to:

iii) A candidate who is a resident of New Jersey.
